Get ready to enjoy “An Old-Fashioned Family-Friendly Fun Time” when the 33rd Annual Berryville Ice Cream Social and Craft Fair kicks off the start of summer Friday and Saturday, June 8 – 9, according to Berryville Chamber of Commerce president Landry Weston. “This fun event provides a great opportunity for people to bring their families to the Square to celebrate our great hometown,” he said.

Weston noted how Chamber Board members and volunteers have been working on the event for several months. Dozens of vendors have already signed up to participate, he said.  The Berryville Public Square will definitely be the place for food, live music and entertainment, unique vendors, kids activities, and, of course, the ice cream -- something for everyone, he added.

Although most of the fun will be found around the town’s historic square, several related events will take place elsewhere. The Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its annual youth fishing derby Saturday, June 9 at George Pond Park. It will begin around 8 a.m. in order to get plenty of fishing in before it turns hot. The competitive annual ICS 5K Run and Fun Walk will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the northeast corner of the square, and end at the same location on the north side of the square.

Also, on Saturday, June 2, the annual Ice Cream Social Pageant is slated to be held at 6 p.m. at the Berryville Elementary School. For more details visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/icspageant/  Winners will be introduced to the public during the Ice Cream Social.

A full slate of performers will provide entertainment Friday evening and all day Saturday. Featured acts include country musical duo Amity Heart from Branson, MO, and the Carroll County Community Orchestra Jazz Band from Berryville, AR. The full schedule of events for the Ice Cream Social will be announced prior to the event.

Another festival favorite will be featured again this year with bouncing houses and inflatables for the children. By popular demand, the water slide is back on the corner of the square. The purchase of a wristband will allow children to play on the inflatables all day.

Vendor booth registrations continue to pour in, promising a great mix of opportunities ranging from homemade Ozarks crafts to various baked good sales. Food trucks and food vendors will also fill the Public Square. Vendors are being asked to be set up and ready to sell by 10 a.m. Friday morning of the Social and remain set up throughout the festival. Local nonprofits still have time to reserve a booth. There will be limited parking around both sides of the Public Square on Friday and Saturday of the festival.

Anyone interested in participating or volunteering, please call the Berryville Chamber of Commerce at (870) 423-3704 no later than June 1st. Forms for Vendor Registration and the 5K Run & Ice Cream Social Fun Run can also be obtained at the chamber, located near the junction of Hwys. 62 & 21. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday or by email at info@berryvillechamber.com. Or go online and download the forms from the Chamber’s website: www.BerryvilleChamber.com.

“Berryville is the perfect place to live, work, and play,” said Steve Johnson, Interim Executive Director of the Greater Berryville Area Chamber of Commerce. “For a third of a century our Ice Cream Social has been a time when the whole community comes together each year to celebrate this long-running tradition. It’s a way for neighbors to come together, a place where friends can catch up with each other, and where kids and parents can make lasting memories in our beautiful hometown. But we also want to invite everyone in our region to come and take a stroll back in time, enjoy an old-fashioned walk down memory lane, and to join in the family fun at our Ice Cream Social.”

Finally, Johnson gave a shout-out to all the sponsors, volunteers, and Chamber board members who make this annual summertime event such a success.

“We simply couldn’t bring this massive event together without the generous donations from our sponsors, and without the selfless efforts of volunteers who tirelessly devote many hours of their free time to making this event a reality each year,” he added.
